A Couple of Movie Reviews
Matthew, Tom and I went to the crappy $3.00 movies tonight. We saw "28 Weeks Later". It was OK but there really wasn't much to it. The kiddies liked it though. I think that's the last time I'm going to that dump.
Earlier this week, I rented "The Messengers" and "Apocalypto". "The Messengers" was good but the ending was weak. "Apocalypto" was really good, definitely the best of this bunch.

A Fire, A Party And Music!
Big doings today.
About 2:40 this morning, Natalie and I both smelled smoke. We checked the kid's rooms, the attics, the basement, everywhere but we couldn't find anything burning. The smoke alarms didn't go off. It was weird. We went outside and it looked hazy and the smell was really strong but we still couldn't see anything. There were some sirens going off but they were too far away to be involved in whatever we were smelling. The next day, Colleen told us the Dunkin Donuts up on Belair Road burned down during the night. That's a couple blocks away from us. I wonder if we knew it was burning before the fire department did. There hasn't been a peep about it on the TV news or in the newspaper.
I put this photo in the Baltimore Group at Flickr and I got this comment from Kcarter "this is what i heard two men tried to break in and the safe was near gas line and they were using a blow torch and the place exploded and one man died and the other ran down the street in flames. I live with in a mile from the place but did not hear anything but a neighbor of mine heard the explosion and went see what it was."

Patrick had his 11th birthday party at Howard & Dolores today. Natalie, Matthew and I went and had a great time. Howard put a new pool in that's bigger and deeper than the last one. Really nice. Because John up the street was having his birthday party on the same day, we didn't stay too late.
The Unholy Trio
After we dropped Matthew off, Natalie and I went to Honfest in Hampden. I wanted to go mainly to hear Cary Zeigler's Expensive Hobby play. They were on from 5:00 to 7:00 and we didn't get there until 6:30 but they were still great. I don't know of any other band that does a Yes Medley ("I've Seen All Good People", "Yours Is No Disgrace" and "Changes"). They also did a couple of originals and Chicago's "Make Me Smile". The Chicago sounded great with their three-piece horn section. The festival itself was OK but I don't know if I would go there just for that. No good beer at any of the stands.

Out For A Stroll On Calvert Street
In the meantime, placing our faith in God, we must continue the performance of our duties, each and everyone of us, so that we may confront this destructive adversary with a nation united, courageous and consecrated to the preservation of human supremacy on this earth.

A Rant About A.C. Moore
A.C. Moore is having a Moonlight Madness sale this weekend. I won't be there. Natalie and I went to the last one they had. We got to the Avenue in White Marsh a little early so we went to Red Brick Station for a drink while we waited. We walked over there when the sale started and it was really nothing - 20% off everything in the store. That was it, no specials or anything. We didn't find anything we really wanted but we had a 50% off coupon so we thought we'd use that on something we knew we would need. At the register, the cashier told us no coupons were being accepted during the Moonlight Madness sale. I told Natalie (and anybody else who wanted to hear) that this was a rip-off. We were being penalized 30% because we waited a 1/2 hour for the sale to start. I didn't want to buy the stupid thing but Natalie ended up getting it. I wish I could find a video online of "Pierre Bernard's Recliner Of Rage" skit about A.C.Moore that was on Conan O'Brian. He went off about the stupid coupons too.
